What We Must Learn From the Zachery Tims Tragedy

What We Must Learn From the Zachery Tims Tragedy

I have to agree with Lee Grady on this one. Though it is sad that Zachery Tims was found dead, I have to wonder if things would have turned out differently if there had been more of an accountability to God's precepts and not our own. Instead, as we have witnessed over and over, man's ways are not on the same standard as God's ways. Doesn't God deserve for the Body of Christ to live a righteous and Holy life? Notice I said righteous not self righteous. Many will get angry at J. Lee Grady's article and say that he is being too judgmental. But, what did Paul say in regards to believers. It's best to read the entire chapter 5 of I Corinthians, but I will lay a foundation with a couple of verses I Corinthians 5:12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person. It is my understanding that we are definitely not to judge sinners, but as believers shouldn't there be a standard of being accountable when we fall short? I don't consider a couple of weeks taking a sabbatical as a time of reflection. But, that seems to be the solution within the modern church especially within the Charismatic circle. We can go back to the time of King David's sin with Bathsheba and look at how his life dramatically changed, but it didn't change for the better. No, matter of fact it was as if it opened a large door for the devil to slither his way in. Let's be real here I believe in forgiveness and we should forgive those that hurt us, but forgiveness doesn't mean that we turn a blind eye and put someone back into the pulpit when they have fallen. Is this really going to help that Pastor and what repercussions will come to the congregation because the Pastor was allowed to preach too soon? These are questions that must look to God in all His infinite wisdom to answer for us. Every time that a Pastor was allowed to continue to preach without deep counseling and a year or more of time away from the pulpit it has ended badly. There are too many examples to name, so I won't go there. But, trust me all you have to do is research this and you will discover what I and others like J. Lee Grady have found to be unaccountable and because they were not held accountable destruction was the outcome. We really need to hold our leadership accountable because we are on the receiving end of what is being preached and in my opinion it would prevent tragedies like the death of Pastor Zachery Tims from happening.
